Extractions

Sometimes a tooth requires removal to maintain your best health.

If you need a tooth extracted, we’re here to help.

Dentists agree retaining natural teeth as long as possible is the ideal–as long as those teeth appear and function optimally. If teeth become detrimental to your health, Dr. Kapoor and Mirage Family Dentistry can perform safe extraction procedures from the comfort of your dental home.

  • If you need a wisdom tooth extraction, we will refer you to a trusted colleague.
  • You may need a tooth extracted to make room for other teeth to shift naturally or to undergo orthodontic work.
  • An irreparably damaged or decayed tooth may need to come out to prevent infection or solve severe periodontal (gum) disease.

Crown Lengthening

Crown lengthening removes gum tissue, bone tissue, or both to expose more of a tooth.

It’s a common surgical procedure for many reasons.

A crown lengthening procedure is performed when a tooth needs to be repaired, such as when not enough of the tooth surface exists above the gum, making that tooth unable to support a filling or crown, or if there is excessive gum tissue around the upper teeth—sometimes called “a gummy smile”.

  • To support filling or crown placement, Dr. Kapoor exposes more of the tooth.
  • To balance ratio of teeth and gums, crown lengthening can make smiles look “less gummy”.
  • Crown lengthening is usually performed using local anesthesia.
  • Length of surgery and healing time will vary according to your individual situation.

Pre-Prosthetic Surgery

Pre-prosthetic surgery is performed to prepare your mouth for implants or dentures.

We’ll build a strong foundation for long-term tooth replacement.

Everyone’s mouth is a different shape, and factors like bone loss can make dentures difficult to fit. Ill-fitting dentures can cause sores, discomfort, and difficultly with eating, sleeping, and speaking, which is one of the reasons dental implants are so popular.

  • Whether your tooth replacement method of choice is implants or dentures, pre-prosthetic surgery forms a stronger base to receive those solutions—for life.
  • Most pre-prosthetic procedures are relatively simple. Don’t be afraid to ask Dr. Kapoor any questions you may have.
